What is Work Out?
“Work Out” is a 10 week program funded under Skilling Queenslanders for Work initiative of the Department of Employment and Industrial Relations. It is free to all participants, and runs throughout the year— during school terms.

Who can be a part of the program?
If you are a woman who has not been in the workforce before, or you are looking to re-enter after leaving the workplace, then this program is for you!
How does it work?
Work Out is organised into two 5 week blocks – Part A is instruction in different areas and Part B is work experience in those areas.
Part A
For the first 5 weeks, participants will receive practical and theoretical training; including guest speakers/facilitators who will run sessions to assist participants see real life possibilities and get a ‘taster' of the different areas. Participants will develop confidence through training in the areas of Hospitality; Retail; Bookkeeping; Reception/Front Desk and Technology.
An essential part of the program is Personal Development. The Spot has partnered with motivational consultants to support participants as they prepare to enter the work place – including all areas of personal development such as coping with change; goal setting; communication; confidence and interview techniques.
Through Work Out, participants will be offered assistance with child care and transport. They will also receive their Blue Card for Working with Children and their Senior First Aid certificate.
Part B
Exciting local hands-on work experience offered in the areas of:
- Hospitality
- Retail/Sales
- Bookkeeping
- Reception/Front Desk
